Hélio Fernando Xavier Vieira (born 3 September 1963), known asHélio Vieira, is a Brazilianfootballcoach and former player who played as acentral defender. He is the current head coach ofSão José-RS.
Vieira was born inPelotas,Rio Grande do Sul, and was aBrasil de Pelotas youth graduate. After making his first team debut at the age of 16, he would become a regular starter for the club in the following years.[1]
Vieira subsequently representedJuventude,Guarany de Cruz Alta,Guarany de Bagé,São Paulo-RS andEsportivo, retiring with the latter in 1997 at the age of 33.
Immediately after retiring, Vieira returned to his first club Brasil de Pelotas, being appointed manager in the place of sackedVacaria.[1] He left the club in the following year, and worked atSão José-RS.
Vieira continued to work mainly in his native state in the following years, being in charge ofSanta Cruz-RS (six times,[2] where one of them he did not manage the club for a single match due to accepting an offer from a Saudi club),[3]Caixas,[4]Veranópolis (four times),[5]Farroupilha,Glória,[6][7]Esportivo (two times),[8]Avenida (four times),[9][10]Cerâmica,Aimoré (two times),[11]São Paulo-RS,[12]Ypiranga-RS andPasso Fundo,[13] also with a return to Brasil de Pelotas in 2011. He also worked inSanta Catarina withAtlético Tubarão (three times)[14][15] andBrusque (two times),[16][17] and also worked abroad with Saudi Arabian sidesAl-Riyadh andAl-Watani.
On 26 March 2021, Vieira returned to São José in the place ofCarlos Moraes.[18]
