Häme Province (Finnish:Hämeen lääni,Swedish:Tavastehus län), orTavastia,[1] was aprovince ofFinland from 1831 to 1997.

In 1997 the southern parts withKanta-Häme,Päijät-Häme was merged with theprovince of Uusimaa andKymi into the new province ofSouthern Finland. The northern part withPirkanmaa was merged with the provinces ofVaasa,Central Finland,Turku and Pori into the new province ofWestern Finland.

The province corresponds roughly to the current regions ofKanta-Häme,Päijät-Häme andPirkanmaa.
