Gyan Chand Jain (1923 – 2007) was an Indian writer and scholar ofUrdu literature.[1] Born in 1923 atSeohara ofBijnore district in the Indian state ofUttar Pradesh, Jain was known for his scholarship onGhalib literature.[1] He authored several books includingAik Bhasha: Do Likhawat, Do Adab[2] andUrdu Ki Nasri Dastanain,[3] the latter considered by many as his masterpiece.[4]

Jain received theSahitya Akademi Award for Urdu in 1982. He died, aged 85, in August 2007 atPorterville, California.[1]
