Guy Henniart (born 1953,Santes) is a French mathematician atParis-Sud 11 University. He is known for his contributions to theLanglands program, in particular his proof of thelocal Langlands conjecture forGL(n) over ap-adiclocal field—independently fromMichael Harris andRichard Taylor—in 2000.[1]
Henniart attained his doctorate from theUniversity of Paris V in 1978, under supervision ofPierre Cartier with thesisReprésentations du groupe de Weil d’un corps local. He was a member ofNicolas Bourbaki.[2] Henniart was aninvited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in 2006 at Madrid and gave a talkOn the local Langlands and Jacquet-Langlands correspondences.
