TheGulf ofSaint-Malo is a part of the south-westernEnglish Channel betweenBrittany,Normandy, and theChannel Islands.
Formed by subsidence and flooding of a continental zone of about 8 500 km2, it extends from theBréhat archipelago in the west toGuernsey andAlderney in the north and to the west coast ofCotentin (Normandy) in the east.
In addition to Bréhat and its archipelago, the Channel IslandsJersey and Guernsey (and the latter's dependencies Alderney andSark), theChausey archipelago is situated in the centre.
From west to north-east:
Several rivers flow into the Gulf of Saint Malo: theRance estuary is between Dinard et Saint-Malo; theSélune and theSée form a common estuary in the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel; theCouesnon enters the sea in by Mont-Saint-Michel. The mouths of theThar, theSienne and theGerfleur are on the Cotentin coast.
