Greg Whitecross (born 15 March 1961) is a former professionaltennis player from Australia.
Whitecross was the boys' singles champion at the1979 Australian Open, defeatingCraig Miller in the final.[1] He won the doubles title as well, withMichael Fancutt.
In 1979, he was also a quarter-finalist in theFrench Open and made the round of 16 atWimbledon.[2]
Whitecross competed in the main singles draw at theAustralian Open six times, without ever making it past the opening round.[3] The closest he came was in the1982 Australian Open when he lost toDamir Keretić in five sets, after claiming the first two.[3] He also appeared at least once at the other threeGrand Slam tournaments, playing in the1980 US Open (beaten byVíctor Pecci), the1980 Wimbledon Championships (in the men's doubles), the1982 Wimbledon Championships (lost toEddie Edwards), the1984 Wimbledon Championships (in the mixed doubles), and the1984 French Open (in the men's doubles).[4]
On theGrand Prix circuit, Whitecross had his best performances at theSouth Australian Open.[3] In 1982, he had wins overMike Leach andJeff Borowiak, before exiting at the quarter-final stage, toBroderick Dyke.[3] At the South Australian Openthe following year, he made the doubles semi-finals, with partnerMark Lewis.[3]
