Gregory "Greg" Jonathon Stone (born 23 June 1961 inPerth, Western Australia) is an Australian actor who has appeared in films, television and on stage.

Early life

Stone was born inPerth, Western Australia to parents Roy and Jennifer Stone and grew up inFremantle with his two siblings.

Career

Stone graduated from theNational Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney in 1983[1] and won aHelpmann Award andGreen Room Award[2] for Best Actor[3] for his role ofGeorge W. Bush inDavid Hare’sStuff Happens directed byNeil Armfield in 2006.[4] Other notable film roles are inThe Bank withDavid Wenham andAnthony LaPaglia,Van Diemen's Land,Oranges and Sunshine andThe Sunset Six.

In 2023, Stone was announced in the cast for ABC comedy seriesWhite Fever.[5]

Theatre

Considered one of Australia's finest stage actors, he has appeared in over 90 productions for many companies includingMelbourne Theatre Company,Sydney Theatre Company,State Theatre Company of South Australia,Belvoir,Malthouse Theatre,Playbox Theatre Company,Black Swan State Theatre Company,Bell Shakespeare,Griffin Theatre Company and Q Theatre.[6] He was nominated forGreen Room Awards for his performances inAngels in America,Good Works,A Little Night Music,[7]The Beauty Queen of Leenane,Beneath Heaven,Night a Wall 2 Men,Blackbird (also aHelpmann nomination) andClybourne Park.[8] He was a founding member of the acclaimed Keene/Taylor Theatre Project and Artistic Associate atPlaybox Theatre in 2004.[9]

Music

He is the lead singer of the glam rock band Melody Lords.[10]
