TheGreek Orthodox Cathedral of St George is theGreek Orthodoxchurch ofCape Town, South Africa, located in the district ofWoodstock, and the seat of the Metropolitan of the Orthodox Archdiocese of Good Hope, under thePatriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa.[1][2]
Thecathedral, believed to be the oldest Greek Orthodox church in Africa,[3] is aNeoclassical church built as St George's Church in 1903–1904 by the Greek community.[4] The interior is noted for itsfrescoes in theByzantine style.[1] In 1968 the church was elevated to the status of cathedral.[4]
