Grand Duke George Mikhailovich of Russia (Russian:Георгий Михайлович; 23 August 1863 – 28 January 1919) was aGrand Duke of Russia, first cousin ofEmperor Alexander III of Russia and a General in the Russian army. Born inTbilisi while his father was theGovernor-General ofRussian provinces ofTranscaucasia, he was the second surviving son ofGrand Duke Michael Nikolaevich of Russia andPrincess Cecilie of Baden. His paternal grandparents wereEmperor Nicholas I of Russia andPrincess Charlotte of Prussia. His maternal grandparents wereLeopold, Grand Duke of Baden andPrincess Sophie of Sweden.
On 27 January 1919, George was moved toPeter and Paul Fortress inPetrograd, and in the early hours of the following day, he was shot there by a firing squad, along with his brother,Grand Duke Nicholas Mikhailovich, and his cousins Grand DukesPaul Alexandrovich andDmitri Constantinovich.
On 30 April 1900 atCorfu, Grand Duke George marriedPrincess Maria, daughter ofKing George I of the Hellenes andGrand Duchess Olga Constantinovna of Russia. Maria was George's paternal first cousin once removed.
