Gowanbrae is a suburb inMelbourne,Victoria,Australia, 13 km (8.1 mi) north-west of Melbourne'sCentral Business District, located within theCity of Merri-beklocal government area. Gowanbrae recorded a population of 2,971 at the2021 census.^[1]

Gowanbrae is bounded by theWestern Ring Road in the north and west, theTullamarine Freeway in the west, theAlbion-Jacana railway line in the south andMoonee Ponds Creek in the east. It is the City of Merri-bek's newest suburb, with residential development started in the 1990s and continuing.

The sole road access to the suburb is from the west via Coventry Street, which passes under theTullamarine Freeway.

There are norailway stations in Gowanbrae, withBroadmeadows,Jacana andGlenroy stations, all on theCraigieburn line, the nearest stations. TheAlbion-Jacana railway line forms Gowanbrae's southern border, and is primarily a freight only line, withNSW TrainLink'sXPT service toSydney andV/Line'sNorth East service toAlbury the only passenger services on the line.
