Gordon H. “Nick” Mueller (born 1940Philadelphia) is an American historian and Founding President and CEO Emeritus ofThe National WWII Museum.[1][2]
He studied at theUniversity of Vienna, and graduated from theUniversity of North Carolina. He taught atUniversity of New Orleans.[3]
He was Vice Chancellor at theUniversity of New Orleans.
He is credited, along withStephen E. Ambrose, with starting theNational WWII Museum, located in New Orleans, in 2000.[4] Mueller served as President of the museum until 2017.[3] A few years after its founding, the museum gained US Congressional support, and an affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution. He was the closest friend of Stephen Ambrose.[5]
