Goran Sankovič (18 June 1979 – 4 June 2022) was a Slovenian professionalfootballer who played as adefender for Slovenian teamCelje, Czech teamSlavia Prague, and Greek teamsAkratitos andPanionios.[1]
Sankovič made 21 appearances forSlavia Prague in the Czech Republic.[2] He joinedGreek Superleague sidePanionios in July 2003.[3]
He played five full internationals forSlovenia[4] and was a member of the Slovenia squad at the2002 FIFA World Cup, where he was an unused substitute.[5]
His career was curt short by a serious knee injury in 2004.[6]
Sankovič went missing on 3 June 2022 and was found dead a day later. He was 42 years old.[7]
