Google Docs Editors is a web-based productivityoffice suite offered byGoogle within itsGoogle Drive service. The suite includes:

It used to also includeGoogle Jamboard andGoogle Fusion Tables until Fusion Tables was discontinued in 2019 and Jamboard was discontinued in 2024.[2][3] The Google Docs Editors suite is available freely for users with personalGoogle accounts: through aweb application, a set ofmobile apps forAndroid andiOS, and adesktop application for Google'sChromeOS. It is also available to enterprise customers utilizingGoogle Workspace and individuals at educational institutions throughWorkspace for Education.

The Google Docs Editors suite is available free of charge for users with personalGoogle accounts. It is also offered as part of Google's business-centered service,Google Workspace.[4][5]

Competition

The suite mainly competes withMicrosoft Office andiWork software suites.[6] It pioneered real-time collaborative editing since its inception in 2006, while Microsoft Office introduced it in 2013.[7]

The suite can open and save files inMicrosoft Office file formats like .docx, .xlsx and .pptx . Microsoft Office is a paid suite of productivity apps while Google Docs Editors Suite is available for free to users with private Google accounts. It is also offered as part of Google's business-oriented Google Workspace service, which ran until October 2020 under the name G Suite, a monthly subscription service that unlocks additional features.[8][9]

iWork competes with Google Docs Editors on features and real-time collaboration, but is primarily used on Apple platforms like macOS and iOS.
