Gonzalo García Torres (born 24 March 2004) is a Spanish professionalfootballer who plays as aforward forLa Liga clubReal Madrid.
García is a youth product of SEK, Club Santa Bárbara, and Jarama Race, before joining the youth academy ofReal Madrid in 2014.[2] He had a year-long stint withMallorca's academy in 2018–19 when his family moved there, before returning to Real Madrid. In January 2022, he was promoted toReal Madrid Castilla, and he made his first appearance with them in March 2022.[3][4] He was a prolific scorer in theDivisión de Honor Juvenil de Fútbol in 2022–23 where he was top scorer and won the domestic U19 treble, which earned him a permanent promotion to the Castilla side.[5][6]
On 29 August 2023, García received his first call-up to the senior side after the starting wingerVinícius Júnior suffered an injury.[7] He was named to the squad list for Real Madrid for the first time for aLa Liga match againstGetafe on 2 September 2023.[8]
On 5 February 2025, García scored his first goal forLos Blancos in the stoppage time of a 3–2 away victory overLeganés in theCopa del Rey quarter-finals.[9] He finishedthe league season with Castilla as top scorer with 25 goals, including ahat-trick win 5–0 againstIntercity and four goals in both the win 6–0 againstMérida and 4–1 away victory againstAlgeciras. By scoring 25 goals during the 2024–25 season, Gonzalo García equaled the all-time record for most goals in a single campaign for Real Madrid Castilla—a mark previously set byMariano Díaz.[10][11]
On 18 June 2025, García scored in a 1–1 draw againstAl-Hilal in thegroup stage match at theFIFA Club World Cup, which was also the team's first goal under new managerXabi Alonso.[12] He went on to score in a 3–0 victory againstRed Bull Salzburg, helping his team advance to the knockout stage.[13] Later, he netted the decisive goal in a 1–0 win overJuventus in the round of 16.[14] García was awarded the Top Goal Scorer of the Club World Cup despite Real Madrid's elimination in the semi-finals, having recorded four goals and one assist in six matches.[15] He was later given a contract renewal until 2030 and promoted to the first team on 8 August 2025.[16]
García is a youth international for Spain, having played for theSpain U19s at the2023 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.[17]
In August 2025, he received his first call-up to theSpain U21 for the2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification matches againstCyprus andKosovo,[18] starting in both games.[19][20]
García is a versatileforward who can play across the frontline, aswinger on either side,centre-forward or assecond striker. He is a constant threat in open play, and lethal during transitions. He is a physical player who can use his body to create space and shield the ball. He is a prolific goalscorer, who was involved in 25% of his U19s goals when they won the domestic treble.[21]
García has been compared to former Real Madrid forwardRaúl González due to similarities in their playing style and shared background asLa Fábrica graduates. The comparison gained further attention as Raúl coached García during his time atReal Madrid Castilla.[22][23]
