Gonzales Independent School District is a publicschool district based inGonzales,Texas (USA).

Located inGonzales County, a small portion of the district extends intoCaldwell County.

The school district was recently engaged in a scandal over the use of prison jumpsuits as a way to combat violators of their dress codes. Opponents cited possible violations of the first amendment and it was rumored that the ACLU was involved.^[2]

In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by theTexas Education Agency.^[3]

In 2021 the district realigned its grades.^[4]
