Mythical cave in Norse mythology

Gnipahellir (Gnipa cave) is acave inNorse mythology. Gnipahellir is the home ofGarmr, thehellhound who guards the gates ofHel, the Norse realm of the dead. Garmr is often featured chained here until the onset ofRagnarök, at which time his bindings break and he runs free. Reference to Gnipahellir appears inVǫluspá, Prophecy of theVölva, one of the poems of thePoetic Edda.[1][2]
