Gluphisia crenata, thedusky marbled brown, is amoth of the familyNotodontidae. The species wasfirst described byEugenius Johann Christoph Esper in 1785. It is found in Europe, east over parts ofRussia andChina up toJapan. It is also found in North America, where it was traditionally treated as a separate species,Gluphisia septentrionis.
Thewingspan is 28–34 mm. The moth flies from April to August in two generations depending on the location.

The larvae feed onPopulus species, such asP. nigra,P. balsamifera andP. tremula, but also onSalix purpurea.
