TheGlasgow City Region (previouslyGlasgow and Clyde Valley City Region,[1] also known asClydeside) is a somewhat urbanised city region in the western central belt ofScotland nestled in theClyde Valley and consisting of the following eightcouncils:East Dunbartonshire,East Renfrewshire,Glasgow City Council,Inverclyde,North Lanarkshire,Renfrewshire,South Lanarkshire, andWest Dunbartonshire. The councils, along with several others, had previously formed theStrathclyde region between 1974 and 1996.[2][3][4]
