Giuseppe Brizi (19 March 1942 – 9 June 2022) was an Italian professionalfootball player and manager who played as adefender.[4] In 2012, he was inducted intoACF Fiorentina Hall of Fame.[5]
Brizi debuted in professional football during the1959–60 Serie C season, when he played as a midfielder forMaceratese.[2][4] In 1962, he was then bought byFiorentina, whereFerruccio Valcareggi eventually decided to play him as asweeper.[2] In Florence, Brizi had his best spell of his career, making 389 appearances (becoming the player with thesecond highest number of appearances in the history of the club)[6] and contributing to winning, among others, oneScudetto and twoCoppa Italia.[4]
He was part of theItaly national B team's squad that won the1963 Mediterranean Games.
Brizi was the manager ofMaceratese for three non-consecutive tenures, where he won hisGirone during the1979–80 Serie D season,[7]Lanciano,Fermana, andSangiustese.[8]
Brizi died on 9 June 2022, at the age of 80.[9]
