Ginger Gonzaga (born May 17, 1983)[1] is an American comedian and actress. Since coming to attention hostingHulu's daily pop culture showThe Morning After (2011–12), she has had numerous guest and recurring roles on television and has been in the main cast of such series asMixology,Wrecked, andShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law. She was a co-lead in the 2023 seriesTrue Lies, playing Helen Tasker.

Early life

Gonzaga grew up inModesto, California, where she attendedBeyer High School.[2][3] Her mother is Dutch and her father Filipino.[4] She went to theUniversity of California, Berkeley andUniversity of California, Santa Barbara, where she majored in political science.[2] Gonzaga graduated a year early to train atThe Groundlings school, and went on to studyimprov atSecond City andUpright Citizens Brigade.[3]

Career

Gonzaga hostedHulu's comedic daily pop culture recap showThe Morning After.[5] She was a regular onABC'sMixology, which ran for thirteen episodes. She has also appeared in numerous other television shows, includingTogetherness,I'm Dying Up Here,Wrecked,Kidding, andRoom 104.[6][5]

In 2019, she had a role inPaul Rudd's seriesLiving with Yourself.[7] She portrays "the Angry Young Congresswoman" Anabela Ysidro-Campos, also known as simply AYC, a character based on CongresswomanAlexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in the 2020 satirical space comedySpace Force.[6] In January 2021, she was cast in theDisney+ streaming seriesShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law forMarvel Studios, playingJennifer Walters / She-Hulk's best friend, Nikki.[8][9]

Gonzaga portrays Helen Tasker in the2023 CBS series adaptation of the 1994 filmTrue Lies.[10]

Personal life

Gonzaga was in a relationship with actorJim Carrey from 2018 to 2019.[11] Gonzaga is bisexual.[12]
