Gill German is a BritishLabour Party politician who has beenMember of Parliament forClwyd North since2024.[1]
German was born inPrestatyn, working as a teacher in the localDenbighshire area before elected office.[2][3]
She was elected as county councillor for Prestatyn North in 2022 and has been deputy leader ofDenbighshire County Council, as well as lead member for Education, Children and Families.[4]
She was selected in September 2023 as theLabour parliamentary candidate for the new constituency of Clwyd North.[4] She won the seat in the2024 general election, beating her Conservative opponentDarren Millar by 1,196 votes.[2]
In October 2024, German was elected as a member of theWelsh Affairs Select Committee.[5]
In November 2024, German voted in favour of theTerminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which proposes to legaliseassisted suicide.[6]
