Gilbert Saboya Sunyé (born 28 July 1966) is anAndorraneconomist andpolitician. He was theminister of Foreign Affairs to thePrincipality of Andorra from 2011 to 2017. Previously, he was the president of theCommittee of Ministers of the Council of Europe from 9 November 2012 until 16 May 2013. From 23 March 2015 until 1 April 2015 he was actingprime minister of Andorra.
Gilbert Saboya Sunyé was born 28 July 1966 inSant Julià de Lòria,Andorra. He graduated fromToulouse 1 University Capitole.[citation needed]
Before 2001, he was a member of theNational Democratic Group. He was a member of theDemocratic Party from 2001 until 2005. He joined theNew Centre party in 2005, remaining until 2011. In 2011, he joinedDemocrats for Andorra.[citation needed]
On 16 May 2011, he was appointed theMinister of Foreign Affairs underPrime MinisterAntoni Martí, succeedingXavier Espot Miró.[citation needed] The representative for his term wasJosep Maria Mauri on the Episcopal side, andThierry Lataste from the French side.[citation needed] He was the President of theCommittee of Ministers of the Council of Europe from 9 November 2012 until 16 May 2013, succeedingEdmond Panariti. He was followed in the role byMichael Spindelegger.[citation needed]

Remaining foreign minister, on 28 May 2014 Sunyé met with Chinese Foreign MinisterWang Yi inBeijing to discuss cooperation between the two countries.[1] He was appointed the actingPrime Minister of Andorra on 23 March 2015, under Episcopal Co-princeJoan Enric Vives Sicília and French Co-princeFrançois Hollande. He held the role until 1 April 2015, when it was again taken by his predecessor,Antoni Martí.
