Ghulam Mohiuddin (Punjabi,Urdu:غلام محی الدین; also spelledGhulam Mohi-Ud-Din) (born 27 October 1951) is a Pakistani actor ofUrdu andPunjabifilms.[2]

One of the country's most popular film actors during the 70s, 80s and the 90s, he has worked in over 400 movies in Urdu and Punjabi during a career spanning nearly 50 years.[3]

He is popularly known asGullo Bhai in the Pakistan film Industry.[1][4]

Early life and family

He was born inKarachi into aMuhajir family of policemen with roots inHyderabad Deccan andBombay. One of five brothers and three sisters, he later shifted for his film work toLahore,Punjab, where he has been living ever since.[5]

His son Ali Mohiuddin is also an actor, having made his film debut in 2016 withSawal 700 Crore Dollar Ka.[6][7]

Career

In 1974, he began his career in the film industry with the movieDil Walay. The following year, he starred inMera Naam Hai Mohabbat, which was released and became a blockbuster hit in bothPakistan andChina. This film was inspired by a Chinese folk story and markedBabra Sharif's debut as a lead actress.[1]

Throughout his career, he has been the recipient of numerous accolades, including multipleNigar Awards,Lux Style Awards and the prestigiousPride of Performance award, which was presented to him by thePresident of Pakistan in 2020.[1]
