The film's original score was composed byDario Marianelli, and was released throughSony Classical Records on March 22, 2024.
On January 18, 2024, it was announced that Italian composerDario Marianelli would score music for the film, replacingRob Simonsen, who previously scored the predecessor; this film marked Marianelli's second collaboration with directorGil Kenan afterA Boy Called Christmas (2021). He recorded the score at the Barbara Streisand Scoring Stage at theSony Pictures Studios inCulver City, California.[1]
On March 7, 2024, Japanesegirl groupAtarashii Gakko! released a track called "Ghostbusters: Frozen Summer" as a collaboration withSony Pictures Entertainment Japan, which samples thetitular song for the1984 film byRay Parker Jr.[2] The score album was released throughSony Classical Records, digitally on March 22 and inphysical CDs on April 12.[3]
Filmtracks.com wrote "Marianelli's competent and occasionally impressive toil for this film simply reinforces the achievement realized by Simonsen for the previous film."[4] Anton Smit ofSoundtrack World wrote "Marianelli did a stellar job mixing his creative mind with Bernstein's legacy, which is worthy for the next generation of Ghostbusters."[5]
