Germán Crespo Sánchez (born 19 November 1975) is a Spanish retiredfootballer who played as amidfielder, and is the currentmanager ofUCAM Murcia CF.
Born inGranada,Andalusia, Crespo began his senior career with hometown sideClub Recreativo Granada inTercera División, after playing for the youth sides ofReal Madrid andGranada CF. In 1996, after stints atCD San Isidro de Níjar [es],AD Adra and back at Recreativo, he returned to Granada, now being assigned to the main squad inSegunda División B.
After struggling severely with injuries, Crespo moved toCP Granada 74 in the fourth tier in 2000. He retired in 2002, aged just 26.[1]
After retiring, Crespo became the manager ofArenas CD'sCadete squad, before being namedKiki's assistant at Granada in 2005. He left the club on 1 March of the following year, and was appointed manager of CF Sierra Nevada Cenes in 2006.
After leading Sierra Nevada toPrimera Andaluza in his first season, Crespo was named in charge of fellow fifth tier sideAtarfe Industrial CF in 2009,[2] after a one-year spell atCD Huétor Vega. He achieved promotion to the fourth division in 2012, and left in June 2014 to take overUD Maracena.[3]
Crespo left Maracena in 2015, and spent a year without coaching before being appointed atCD Huétor Tájar on 25 June 2016.[4] He was named in charge ofReal Jaén on 28 May 2018,[5] but was dismissed on 1 July of the following year.[6]
On 4 January 2020, Crespo moved abroad after being appointed in charge ofLincoln Red Imps FC in Gibraltar.[7] He left the side on 21 May,[8] and was appointed manager ofCórdoba CF'sreserves six days later.[9]
On 19 April 2021, Crespo was named in charge of the first team of theBlanquiverdes, replacing sackedPablo Alfaro.[10] He was confirmed as manager for the2021–22 season on 18 June 2021,[11] and led the club to promotion toPrimera Federación at the end of the campaign; on 28 October 2022, he renewed his contract until 2026.[12]
On 10 April 2023, Crespo was sacked from Córdoba after a poor run of results.[13] On 7 January 2024, he returned to Granada after being named manager of the B-team also in the third division.[14] On 25 June 2024, following the club'srelegation; Crespo left Granada.[15]
On 8 April 2025, Crespo returned to management as he was named the new manager ofUCAM Murcia CF inSegunda Federación; he replacedJavi Motos - who had been sacked a few hours earlier.[16] On 18 June 2025, despite missing out on promotion via the play-offs with UCAM Murcia; Crespo signed a new one-year contract valid until the summer of 2026.[17]
