Gergő Lovrencsics (born 1 September 1988) is a Hungarian former professionalfootballer who played as aright winger orright-back.
On 13 July 2013, it was announced that Lovrencsics has signed a contract with Polish clubLech Poznań until 2016.
On 5 July 2016, Lovrencsics signed forNemzeti Bajnokság I clubFerencváros. He said that his return to Hungary was a step forward since his former club Lech could not play in theUEFA Champions League or theUEFA Europa League, having finished seventh in the2015–16 Ekstraklasa. However, Ferencváros qualified for the2016–17 UEFA Champions League.[2][3]
On 16 June 2020, he became champion with Ferencváros by beatingBudapest Honvéd FC at theHidegkuti Nándor Stadion on the 30th match day of the2019–20 Nemzeti Bajnokság I season.[4]
On 29 September 2020, he was member of the Ferencváros team which qualified for the2020–21 UEFA Champions League group stage after beatingMolde FK on 3–3 aggregate (away goals) at theGroupama Aréna.[5]
Lovrencsics, a renowned footballer, founded a football academy in 2024 aimed at developing young talents in the sport. The academy is designed for children and youth, providing them with quality training, expert support, and opportunities to enhance their football skills. Through organized training sessions, matches, and participation in tournaments, the academy seeks to foster a love for football and enable young players to reach their potential.
The academy is located in Split, Croatia and is open to all aspiring young footballers. Lovrencsics's goal is to create a positive environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
Lovrencsics made his debut in theHungary national team on 6 June 2013, againstKuwait.
On 14 November 2014, Lovrencsics gave his first goal assist for the Hungarian team in 1–0 againstFinland.
Lovrencsics was selected for Hungary'sEuro 2016 squad.[6]
He played in the last group match in a 3–3 draw againstPortugal at theParc Olympique Lyonnais,Lyon on 22 June 2016.[7]
On 1 June 2021, Lovrencsics was included in the final 26-man squad to represent Hungary at the rescheduledUEFA Euro 2020 tournament.[8]
He has a younger brother namedBalazs, who is also a footballer. Their surname is ofCroatian origin.
