Lieutenant-GeneralSir Gerald De Courcy MortonKCIE CB CVO (7 February 1845 – 20 April 1906) was aBritish Army officer who becameGeneral Officer Commanding7th Division.
Morton wascommissioned into the6th Regiment of Foot in 1863.[1] He served inHazara in 1868 and fought in theSecond Anglo-Afghan War before being appointedAdjutant-General in India in 1895[2] and becomingGeneral Officer CommandingLahore District in 1898.[3] In December 1898, he was made a Knights Commander of India (KCIE).[4] In January 1902 he was appointed a Major-General on the Staff to command theDublin district, and six months later, on 23 June 1902, he was appointedGeneral Officer Commanding7th Division.[5][6] He died in command of his division atCurragh Camp in 1906.[7]
