George McCulloch (February 22, 1792 – April 6, 1861) was an American politician who served as aDemocratic member of theU.S. House of Representatives fromPennsylvania.
George McCulloch was born inMaysville, Kentucky. Upon the death of his parents, he was sent toCumberland County, Pennsylvania, where he was reared by relatives. He became anironmaster, with extensive iron interests inCentre County, Pennsylvania. He was a member of thePennsylvania State Senate for the17th district from 1835 to 1836. He was one of the proprietors of Hannah Furnace from 1836 to 1850.[1]
McCulloch was elected as a Democrat to theTwenty-sixth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death ofWilliam W. Potter. He was an unsuccessful candidate for election in1842. He retired from political life and active business pursuits with residence inLewistown, Pennsylvania. He died inPort Royal, Pennsylvania.
