George David Hoddle (born 27 September 2005) is an English professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder forEFL League One clubCambridge United. He has played on loan atSt Neots Town,Royston Town andSt Albans City.
Hoddle attendedThe Bishop's Stortford High School.[2] He is a second cousin of formerEngland managerGlenn Hoddle.[3]
On 19 August 2022, Hoddle joinedNorthern Premier League Division One Midlands clubSt Neots Town on a work experienceloan.[4] On 11 February 2023, he was named on the substitute bench by Cambridge whilst ineligible due to being on loan at St. Neots following what CEO Alex Tunbridge described as "our own fault and oversight"; Cambridge were fined £12,000 by theFA.[5] On 2 March 2023, he joinedSouthern League Premier Division Central clubRoyston Town on loan.[6]
In July 2023, he signed his first professional contract, a three-year deal, after being named the Terry Baker Scholar of the Year and helping the youth team to reach the quarter-finals of theFA Youth Cup.[7] On 5 August 2023, he joinedSt Albans City in theNational League South on loan until the end of the season.[8] He was recalled by newly appointed Cambridge managerGarry Monk on 6 March 2024, having scored four goals, made four assists and won one Player of the Month award at St Albans.[9] On 16 April 2024, he made his league debut for Cambridge in a 1–0 away defeat toBristol Rovers.[10]
