George Arthur Neeley (August 1, 1879 – January 1, 1919) was aU.S. representative fromKansas.
Born inDetroit, Illinois, Neeley attendedpublic schools inJoplin, Missouri andWellston, Oklahoma. He earned a B.S. fromSouthwestern Baptist University (now Union University) inJackson, Tennessee in 1902. This was followed by aJ.D. from theUniversity of Kansas inLawrence, Kansas in 1904. He was employed for a while as afarmer and ateacher, before becoming alawyer in privatepractice. He was an unsuccessful candidate forUnited States Representative to the61st Congress in 1910.
Neeley was elected as aDemocrat in a special election to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Edmond H. Madison to the62nd Congress and to thesucceeding Congress (January 9, 1912 - March 3, 1915). He was not a candidate for reelection to the64th Congress in 1914, but was an unsuccessful candidate for election to theUnited States Senate. He died inHutchinson, Kansas, and was interred in Oak Park Cemetery,Chandler, Oklahoma.
His daughter was Science Fiction authorMargaret St. Clair.
