Geological Museum of Budapest

TheGeological Museum of Budapest, also known as theHungarian Institute of Geology and Geophysics, is the principalgeological museum inHungary. It is located on Stefánia út in the eastern part ofBudapest, in the district ofPest.

The building was originally constructed to serve as the headquarters of the Hungarian Geological Society, established in 1869. It was designed by renownedHungarian architectÖdön Lechner and completed in 1896. The building continues to house theGeological Institute of Hungary.

Its collection consists ofminerals, prehistoricfootprints, exhibits on the geology and geological history of Hungary, and a dedicated display honoringÖdön Lechner.
