Gary Richard Wheelock (born November 29, 1951) is a formerMajor League Baseballpitcher for theCalifornia Angels (1976) andSeattle Mariners (1977,1980).
After his playing career ended, he spent 33 seasons coaching in the Mariners' organization.[1][2]
Wheelock was the 3rd pick in the expansion draft in 1976 and the 1st ever signed player by the Mariners[3]
Wheelock attended theUniversity of California, Irvine, where he playedcollege baseball for theAnteaters from 1972-1974.[4]
