Gary William Gallagher (born October 8, 1950) is an American historian specializing in the history of theAmerican Civil War. As of 2024, Gallagher was theJohn L. Nau III Professor in the History of the American Civil War at theUniversity of Virginia.[3] He produced a lecture series on the American Civil War forThe Great Courses lecture series.
He is the presenter of a series entitled The American Civil War. These lectures are available in video from The Great Courses. They are also available in audio only format on Audible. He both wrote and presented the lecture series as part of The Great Courses. The series has 48 lectures, 30 minutes each, with 24 hours of lectures in total.
