Gary Bias is an Americansaxophonist,flutist andcomposer. Bias is a longtime member of theEarth, Wind & Fire Horns.[1][2][3]
He born and raised inLos Angeles, California. Bias began playing thesaxophone at the age of 11. He went on to attendLocke High School withGerald Albright andPatrice Rushen.
During 1981 Bias released his debut album entitled East 101 upon Nimbus Records. He went on to play the sax upon reggae bandThird World's 1983 album All the Way Strong. Bias then served as a composer onNajee's 1986 LP Najee's Theme andMongo Santamaria's 1987 album So Yo.[4][3]
During 1987 Bias also won aGrammy Award within the category ofBest Rhythm & Blues Song for co-composingAnita Baker's "Sweet Love".[5][6] Within the same year he went on to join up withEarth, Wind & Fire. Bias then played and composed upon the band's 1990 albumHeritage. As well he featured as a saxophonist onWhitney Houston's album of the same year beingI'm Your Baby Tonight.[4][2]
Bias then played uponMC Hammer's 1991 albumToo Legit to Quit andSalif Keita's 1991 LPAmen. In 1999 Bias released his sophomore LP entitled "2 B Free" upon Thunderbop Records.[4]
