James Gan Teik Chai (颜德财) (5 February 1983 – 5 August 2023) was a Malaysianbadminton player.[2][3] He won the men's doubles title at the 2004French International tournament partnered withKoo Kien Keat.[4] He also won the 2009Australian Open Grand Prix tournament withTan Bin Shen.[5] Teamed-up withOng Soon Hock, he won the 2012 BWF International tournament inMauritius,Argentina, andBrazil.[6][7]

Personal life and death

Gan was married to Esther Ng and had two sons. On 4 August 2023, he died of a heart attack while in Indonesia. He was 40.[8]

BWF Superseries

The BWF Superseries, which was launched on 14 December 2006 and implemented in 2007,[9] was a series of elite badminton tournaments, sanctioned by theBadminton World Federation (BWF). BWF Superseries levels wereSuperseries and Superseries Premier. A season of Superseries consisted of twelve tournaments around the world that had been introduced since 2011.[10] Successful players were invited to the Superseries Finals, which were held at the end of each year.
