Gadi Schwartz (born July 18, 1983)[1] is an American journalist working as anNBC News host andcorrespondent. He is the co-host ofStay Tuned, an NBC News program broadcast onSnapchat's Discover platform,Stay Tuned Now onNBC News Now, and former host ofThe Overview onPeacock.Stay Tuned is the first daily news show on Snapchat.[2] He is also a reporter forNBC Nightly News andToday. In 2016, Schwartz moved from NBC-ownedKNBC in Los Angeles to work as a network correspondent. Schwartz has also served as fill-in, substitute anchor for NBC Nightly News weekday and weekend editions. He previously worked for ten years[1] atKOB inAlbuquerque, New Mexico where he was a weekend news anchor and an investigative reporter.[3] Schwartz lives with his wife, reporter Kim Tobin and their two children in Los Angeles.
Schwartz was born inGuatemala City, Guatemala.[4] He is ofJewish descent[5] and speaks Spanish. His father is Sergio Schwartz, a former journalist forUnivision in Albuquerque. His mother is Karen Mings, a longtime school teacher in the Albuquerque Public Schools.[6] The family moved from Guatemala toBelen, New Mexico, and later to Albuquerque, when he was seven years old, where he grew up.[7] He graduated fromCibola High School andNew Mexico State University.[8][1]
Gadi has three younger brothers: Matthew, Sergio and David. Matthew is a doctoral student inanthropology at theUniversity of New Mexico.[1]
Schwartz has ADHD.[9]
Schwartz covered the Olympic Games twice, at the2018 Winter Olympics inPyeongChang,Korea, and at the2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was named "Best Investigative Reporter" and "Best Reporter" by the New Mexico Broadcaster's Association. In 2012, he was awarded the "Rocky Mountain Emmy Award" for Feature Reporting.[8]
