Gabriela "Gaby"Dabrowski (/dəˈbraʊski/;Polish:Dąbrowska,pronounced[dɔmˈbrɔfska]; born April 1, 1992)[1] is a Canadian professionaltennis player. She reached her career-high doubles ranking of world No. 3 on 15 July 2024. A four-timeGrand Slam champion, she has won two US Open doubles titles, in2023 and2025, partneringErin Routliffe,[2] and also the2017 French Open mixed-doubles title, withRohan Bopanna, becoming the first Canadian woman to win a senior major title,[3] and the2018 Australian Open withMate Pavić.[4] Her highest singles ranking of world No. 164 was achieved in November 2014.
Dabrowski is of Polish origin and speaks English, French, and Polish. Dabrowski played in her first provincial tournament when she was eight. Her first big victory was at the provincial 10-and-under Future Stars at nine years old. Dabrowski was a finalist at the Ontario 14-and-under Provincial Championships and finished in the top 8 at the 14-and-under National Championships. During her teens, she chose to start training atSaddlebrook Academies in Tampa.[5]
At the beginning of 2006, she became the first Canadian to winLes Petits As, one of the most prestigious 14-and-under tournaments in the world.[6] In December 2006, Dabrowski reached the doubles final of the 16-and-under Orange Bowl inMiami.[6] Dabrowski also won the Junior Orange Bowl in December 2009 where she defeated top-seededKristina Mladenovic. She was the first Canadian to capture the title sinceCarling Bassett-Seguso did it as a 15-year-old in 1982.[7] At the junior event of theAustralian Open in January 2010, Dabrowski was a runner-up in doubles with partnerTímea Babos.[8] She finished 2010 ranked fifth in the junior rankings, and so decided to transition to the professional level.[5] In November 2011, she made it to her first professional singles final at the $50kToronto Challenger, but lost to qualifierAmra Sadiković. Dabrowski reached, in November 2012, the semifinals of the $75k Challenger inPhoenix.[9]
At the end of May, Dabrowski reached the first WTA career final with partnerShahar Pe'er, at the Premier tournament inBrussels. They were defeated byAnna-Lena Grönefeld andKvěta Peschke.[10] At the beginning of July at the $50kWaterloo Challenger, Dabrowski made it to the second professional singles final but was defeated byJulia Glushko.[11] At theRogers Cup in August, she reached the semifinals in doubles with compatriotSharon Fichman upsetting first seedsSara Errani andRoberta Vinci the round before. They lost toJelena Janković andKatarina Srebotnik.[12] In October, Dabrowski (with partnerAlicja Rosolska) reached her second WTA doubles final atLinz. They were stunned by twin sistersKarolína andKristýna Plíšková.[13] Dabrowski reached the third singles final at the inaugural $50kSSIR Pro Classic in November, but lost toMandy Minella.[14]

At her first competition of the season, the $25k tournament inVero Beach, Dabrowski reached the fourth singles final of her career but was defeated byLaura Siegemund.[15] At theFrench Open, she made it to the second round of the doubles event with Alicja Rosolska.[16] In July at theSwedish Open, Dabrowski qualified for her first WTA Tour main-draw and upset world No. 39,Camila Giorgi, in the opening round, her first top-50 win.[17] She was eliminated in three sets byMona Barthel in the next round.[18] At theWashington Open, Dabrowski won the first WTA doubles title of her career. With partnerShuko Aoyama she defeatedHiroko Kuwata andKurumi Nara in straight sets in the final.[19] At theUS Open, she reached the third round in doubles with Rosolska.[20] In November, Dabrowski made it to the final of the $50kTevlin Challenger where she won her first professional singles title overMaria Sanchez.[21][22]
At theAustralian Open, Dabrowski and partner Rosolska reached the third round of the doubles event with an upset over second seedsHsieh Su-wei andSania Mirza.[23] They were eliminated byMichaëlla Krajicek andBarbora Záhlavová-Strýcová in three sets. At theDubai Championships, Dabrowski qualified for her first WTA Premier main draw with a win over world No. 69,Julia Görges.[24] She lost toÇağla Büyükakçay in three sets in the opening round.[25] In March, at theMonterrey Open, Dabrowski won her second WTA doubles title with partner Rosolska, against the Rodionova sisters.[26] In May, she reached the quarterfinals in doubles at the Premier 5Italian Open.[27] At her next tournament, theInternationaux de Strasbourg, she qualified for her third tour main draw but lost toElena Vesnina, in the first round.[28] At thePan American Games in July, Dabrowski won a gold medal in doubles withCarol Zhao and a silver medal in mixed doubles withPhilip Bester.[29] In August at theRogers Cup, she was awarded a wildcard for the singles main draw but was eliminated in the first round by world No. 26,Flavia Pennetta.[30]
In February, Dabrowski andMaría José Martínez Sánchez reached the semifinals of the WTA Premier 5 inDoha.[31] In June, she reached the doubles final of theNottingham Open withYang Zhaoxuan.[32] The next week at the inauguralMallorca Open, she won her third WTA Tour doubles title, this time with partner Martínez Sánchez.[33] AtWimbledon, Dabrowski continued her partnership with the Spaniard. In the opening round, she triumphed against fellow CanadianEugenie Bouchard and her partnerSabine Lisicki in straight sets, to reach the second round for the first time. In the next round, againstAnabel Medina Garrigues andArantxa Parra Santonja, the duo failed to close out the match and squandered a 6–4, 5–2 lead, and ended up losing in three sets.[34] At theRio Olympics in August, she advanced to the second round with compatriot Bouchard.[35] In October, Dabrowski and Martínez Sánchez reached the semifinals at the Premier Mandatory inBeijing.[36] She won the second singles title of her career in November at the $25k inNashville, where she defeatedJennifer Elie in straight sets.[37]
In January at theHobart International, Dabrowski reached the final in doubles with Yang Zhaoxuan.[38] In April, she won her first Premier Mandatory doubles title inMiami defeating, with new partnerXu Yifan, the third seeds Sania Mirza and Barbora Strýcová in the final.[39] In May, she qualified for the tournament inRabat, achieving this feat for the fourth time in her career and the first since 2015. She defeatedLina Qostal in her opener for her second WTA main-draw win but lost toFrancesca Schiavone in the second round.[40]
At theFrench Open, Dabrowski reached the third round in doubles and won the title in mixed doubles withRohan Bopanna, becoming the first Canadian woman to win a Grand Slam title.[3] At the Premier event inNew Haven, she captured her second doubles title of the season, also her second with partnerXu Yifan.[41] At theUS Open, she advanced to the quarterfinals in both doubles and mixed doubles.[42] In September at theTournoi de Québec, she qualified for her second WTA Tour main draw of the season where she lost to defending championOcéane Dodin in the first round, in three sets.[43] In October, Dabrowski qualified for her firstWTA Finals with Xu Yifan, but lost in the quarterfinals to defending champions,Ekaterina Makarova andElena Vesnina.[44][45]
In January, Dabrowski won her sixth WTA doubles title and her third with partner Xu Yifan at the Premier event inSydney.[46] At theAustralian Open, she reached the quarterfinals in women's doubles with Xu Yifan and won the mixed-doubles event withMate Pavić, her second Grand Slam title.[4] In February, she won the then-second biggest doubles title with a victory at the Premier 5 inDoha withJeļena Ostapenko. With this win, she became only the fourth Canadian female player to reach the top 10 in singles or doubles, with a debut at No. 8.[47] At theFrench Open, Dabrowski reached the final in mixed doubles for the second straight year, this time with Pavić, but failed to defend her title with a loss toLatisha Chan andIvan Dodig. She also made it to the third round in doubles with Xu.[48]
In May, Dabrowski and Xu were runners-up in theMadrid Open, which they followed up by winning theNuremberg Cup. In June, they reached the quarterfinals of theFrench Open.
They reached the final ofWimbledon, losing to Hsieh Su-wei andBarbora Strýcová. In August, they reached the semifinals of theRogers Cup, and two weeks later reached the quarterfinals of theUS Open. Their performance during the year earned them a place in theWTA Finals, but they went out at the round-robin stage. Dabrowski and Pavić reached the final of theFrench Open for the second successive year, but were again beaten by Chan and Dodig.
Dabrowski reached the finals of the Premier event inAdelaide playing withDarija Jurak. At the2020 Australian Open, she reached the quarterfinals in women's doubles with Jeļena Ostapenko, and the semifinals of mixed doubles withHenri Kontinen. With Ostapenko, she reached also the WTA 1000 event final at theQatar Ladies Open.
In October, she reached another Premier final, inOstrava, playing with new partnerLuisa Stefani.[49]
Seeded fifth, Dabrowski won her third WTA 1000 and first with Stefani at the2021 Canadian Open, avenging their loss in the final inSan Jose to Darija Jurak andAndreja Klepač.[50] The following week, they followed this successful run by another, reaching the WTA 1000 final at theCincinnati Open by defeating current Olympic champions, second seeded pair Krejčíková/Siniaková. They lost the final toSam Stosur andZhang Shuai.[51]
In their first major together, the duo reached the semifinals of theUS Open, but they were forced to retire when Stefani injured her knee.[52] On October 18, Dabrowski ascended to world No. 5 in the WTA doubles rankings, thus becoming the highest ranked Canadian ever in the discipline.[53]
Dabrowski announced she will play the 2022 season withGiuliana Olmos, with whom she had partnered to reach the semifinals at the 2021 Miami Open, but stated she could be open to play again with Stefani.[54] Seeded second, they went on to win their first WTA1000 together at theMadrid Open.[55] Dabrowski and Olmos followed that by also reaching the final of theItalian Open.[56] She reached a new career-high doubles ranking of No. 4, on 11 July 2022.[citation needed]
In September, Dabrowski reunited with Stefani in her return to WTA Tour and won with her theChennai Open, afterwards getting thePan Pacific Open title with Olmos, both titles without losing a single set.[57][58]Following this successful runs, she qualified for her fourthWTA Finals with Olmos in their first appearance as a team.[59]
In August, seeded 16th as a pair with new partnerErin Routliffe at theUS Open, Dabrowski made her eleventh Grand Slam quarterfinal. They defeated sixth seedsLeylah Fernandez andTaylor Townsend in three sets to make the semifinals. There, they defeated Hsieh Su-wei who was on a 16-match major winning streak, having won both the2023 French Open and the2023 Wimbledon Championships, andWang Xinyu to reach the final for the first time in Routliffe's career and second in Dabrowski's. In the final, they took on former championsLaura Siegemund andVera Zvonareva. They defeated them in straight sets to claim the US Open title, a first Grand Slam title for both players.[60][2] As a result, she returned to the top 10, at world No. 9 on 11 September 2023.
At theGuadalajara Open, the pair reached their first WTA 1000 final defeatingJasmine Paolini andMayar Sherif.[61]
Their strong performance in the latter half of 2023 meant Dabrowski/Routliffe qualified for theWTA Finals inCancún. This was Dabrowski's fifth year qualifying for the year-end tournament, and Routliffe's first. There the pair went undefeated in the group stage, without dropping a set, setting up a semifinal match with the eighth seedsNicole Melichar-Martinez andEllen Perez. Dabrowski/Routliffe lost the match in a tight match tiebreaker.[62]
Dabrowski was named toTeam Canada during theBillie Jean King Cup finals in November 2023. Dabrowski won all three of her doubles matches, helping Team Canada secure the victory. This marks the first time Canada has won the competition.[63]
Dabrowski reached a second WTA 1000 final with Erin Routliffe at theMiami Open where the pair lost to alternatesBethanie Mattek-Sands andSofia Kenin in a deciding champions tiebreak.[64][65]
In June, Dabrowski and Routliffe won theNottingham Open beatingHarriet Dart andDiane Parry in the final.[66][67]
Alongside Routliffe, she reached her second final atWimbledon losing toKateřina Siniaková and Taylor Townsend.[68] As a result, she reached a new career-high in doubles of world No. 3 on 15 July.[69]
Seeded second at theWTA Finals inRiyadh, Saudi Arabia, Dabrowski and Routliffe went unbeaten to top their group and reach the semifinals,[70][71] where they defeated Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Ellen Perez, in straight sets.[72][73] Dabrowski and Routliffe defeated Kateřina Siniaková and Taylor Townsend in the final to claim their first WTA Tour Finals title.[74][75][76] In the process Dabrowski became the first Canadian to win a WTA Finals title.[76][77]
Seeded second, Dabrowski and Routliffe reached the semifinals at theAustralian Open, but lost to Jeļena Ostapenko and Hsieh Su-wei.[78][79]
In April, they won the doubles title at theStuttgart Open, defeatingEkaterina Alexandrova andZhang Shuai in the final.[80]
Dabrowski and Routliffe won their first WTA 1000 title as a team at theCincinnati Open in August, defeatingGuo Hanyu andAlexandra Panova in the final.[81][82]
The following month they secured their secondUS Open title together, overcoming top seeds Kateřina Siniaková and Taylor Townsend in the final, in straight sets.[83][84]
Defending their title at the end of seasonWTA Finals in November, Dabrowski and Routliffe were eliminated in the round-robin stage with a record of one win and two losses leaving them in third place in their group.[85][86]
In November 2025 it was announced that Dabrowski would return to play alongsideLuisa Stefani after almost three years since their last match together, initially to participate at the Adelaide International.[87][88]
Dabrowski made herWorld TeamTennis as a wildcard player for thePhiladelphia Freedoms. She returned as a roster player for theOrange County Breakers in the 2020 season atThe Greenbrier.[89]
On 31 December 2024, Dabrowski revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in April that year and had undergone treatment including two surgeries during a three-month break from tennis. Writing on Instagram she said it was "a privilege to call myself a survivor" and "early detection saves lives."[90][91][92]
