Gabriel Isaac Luna (born December 5, 1982) is an American actor and producer. He is known for his roles asRobbie Reyes / Ghost Rider on theABC action superhero seriesAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2016–2017), Tony Bravo on theEl Rey Network drama seriesMatador (2014), Paco Contreras on the ABC crime drama seriesWicked City (2015),Rev-9 in theTerminator filmTerminator: Dark Fate (2019), andTommy Miller in theHBO post-apocalyptic drama seriesThe Last of Us (2023–present). He has also starred in the filmsBernie (2011),Balls Out (2014),Freeheld (2015),Gravy (2015), andTranspecos (2016).
Gabriel Isaac Luna was born inAustin, Texas. His father died prior to Luna's birth,[1] and he was raised by his mother. He attendedSt. Edward's University in Austin, where he made his stage debut asRomeo in a production ofRomeo and Juliet, and graduated in 2005.[2]
Luna made his screen acting debut as Kristofer Rostropovich in the drama filmFall to Grace, which premiered atSouth by Southwest in March 2005. He then provided voice-over work for the science fiction video gameBlackSite: Area 51, which was released in November 2007.[2] Luna is a founding member of the Austin-based Paper Chairs Theatre Company.[3] On stage in Austin, Luna has portrayed Sergei Maxudov inBlack Snow (2009),[4] the title character inOrestes (2009),[5] and Clov inEndgame (2010).[6] For these three performances, he received the Austin Critics Table Best Lead Actor Award in 2010.[7]
Luna then starred as the lead character, Nate Hitchins, in the drama filmDance with the One, which premiered at South by Southwest in March 2010.[2] The following year, he had a supporting role in the black comedy filmBernie, directed byRichard Linklater, which premiered at theLos Angeles Film Festival in June 2011. Luna's television credits include minor roles onFox's serial dramaPrison Break (2008),HBO's television filmTemple Grandin (2010), Fox's drama-thrillerTouch (2013), andCBS' action procedural dramaNCIS: Los Angeles (2013).[2]
In 2014, he was cast in the leading role of Tony Bravo on theEl Rey Network television seriesMatador.[8] The series premiered in July 2014 and ran for one season of 13 episodes, ending that October.[9] That same year, he co-starred as Vinnie in the sports comedyBalls Out, which premiered at theTribeca Film Festival in April 2014.[10] Luna next recurred as Miguel Gilb, a former lover ofTaylor Kitsch's character, on thesecond season of the HBO anthology drama seriesTrue Detective, appearing in 3 episodes.[11] He then co-starred in theJulianne Moore andElliot Page-led drama filmFreeheld, directed byPeter Sollett, which premiered at theToronto International Film Festival in September 2015.[12]
Luna subsequently had a supporting role in the comedy filmGravy, directed byJames Roday, which was released in October 2015.[13] He was then cast as Paco Contreras, a detective searching for a serial killer on the Sunset Strip, on theABC crime drama seriesWicked City.[14] The series premiered in October 2015, but was cancelled following its third episode; the remaining episodes were later released throughHulu.[15]

The following year, he starred asborder patrol agent Lance Flores in the thriller filmTranspecos, oppositeClifton Collins, Jr. andJohnny Simmons. The film had its premiere at South by Southwest in March 2016.[16] Luna next appeared as motorcycle racerEddie Hasha in theDiscovery Channel miniseriesHarley and the Davidsons.[17] In July of the same year, it was announced that he would join the cast ofAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. inseason 4 asRobbie Reyes / Ghost Rider.[18] He was nominated forChoice TV: Action Actor at the2017 Teen Choice Awards for his role as Ghost Rider.[19] Luna has a supporting role as Mr. Lawrence in the coming-of-age filmHala, alongsideJack Kilmer andAnna Chlumsky.[20] In April 2018, he was cast as the villainousRev-9Terminator inTerminator: Dark Fate.[21]
In 2019, it was announced that Luna would be reprising his role of Robbie Reyes / Ghost Rider fromAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in a television series centred on the character which will be released onHulu to debut in 2020.[22] On September 25, it was reported that Hulu had decided not to go forward on the series.[23]
In April 2021, it was announced that Luna would playTommy Miller inthe HBO television adaptation ofThe Last of Us oppositePedro Pascal.[24]
Luna married Romanian actress Smaranda Ciceu on February 20, 2011.[25][26][27] They reside inLos Angeles.[25]
