Gabriela Maria "Gabi" Zanotti Demoner (born 28 February 1985) is a Brazilian professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder forCorinthians and theBrazil women's national team. She participated at the2015 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Club career

Between the ages of nine and 14, Gabi played alongside her mother Nailza in a women's football team which competed at regional level.[4] Between 2004 and 2006 she played forKindermann, based inSanta Catarina.[5] Gabi then playedcollege soccer in the United States while attendingFranklin Pierce University. She spent the 2010 season playing in the North AmericanW-League forHudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues.[6] In2008 she was withBoston Renegades,[7] playing eight times and scoring one goal.[8]

In 2011 Gabi played forSantos, but in early 2012 Santos'board of directors closed the club women's section. Gabi accompaniedMaurine,Érika and several other displaced Santos players intransferring toCentro Olímpico.[9]

International career

In July 2013 Gabi represented Brazil at the2013 Summer Universiade inKazan, Russia.[10] She had already debuted for the senior national team, as a substitute in a 5–2 win overMexico at the2009 Torneio Internacional Cidade de São Paulo de Futebol Feminino.[11]

Gabi was not included in the final squad for the2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany because she was not cleared by theBrazilian Football Confederation's (CBF) medical department.[12]

She was named as an alternate for the Brazil squad at the2012 London Olympics.[13] In early 2015 Gabi was included in an 18-month residency programme intended to prepare Brazil's national team for the2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada and the2016 Rio Olympics.[14] At the World Cup, Gabi appeared in just one of Brazil's four matches, as part of a much-changed team in the 1–0 final group game win overCosta Rica.

After Brazil's 1–0 second round defeat byAustralia, Gabi remained in Canada as part of the gold medal-winning Brazilian selection at the2015 Pan American Games inToronto.
