Gabriel “Gabe” Rodriguez is an AmericanDemocratic Party politician serving as a member of theNew Jersey General Assembly for the33rd legislative district, having taken office on January 9, 2024.

Biography

A resident ofWest New York, New Jersey, Rodriguez is employed by theWest New York School District as an accounting manager.[1]

Elective office

Rodriguez served for four years as a West New York town commissioner and was elected as mayor in 2019.[2]

In the wake of the2021 apportionment, the reconfiguration of municipalities in the32nd and 33rd districts and the incumbent Assembly members in those districts choosing to retire or run for other elective office, the Hudson County Democratic Organization chose newcomers Rodriguez andJulio Marenco to run for the two Assembly seats.[3] Marenco and Rodriguez defeated independent candidate Lea Sherman, the only other candidate running in the2023 New Jersey General Assembly election.[4][5] Rodriguez was one of 27 members elected for the first time in 2023 to serve in the General Assembly, more than one-third of the seats.[6]
