G-protein coupled receptor 146 is aprotein that in humans is encoded by theGPR146gene.^[5] The receptor has been shown to bind cholesin/C7orf50, a gut-derivedhormone that is secreted from the intestine in response todietary cholesterol absorption. In response to cholesin binding, GPR146 signaling inhibit cholesterol synthesis.^[6] Consistent with this interaction, murine genetic disruption of GPR146 lowersserum cholesterol and reducesatherosclerotic aortic lesions.^[7] GPR146 has also been identified as a possible receptor forC-peptide.^[8]
