Gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor subunit gamma-1 is aprotein that in humans is encoded by theGABRG1gene.[5] Theprotein encoded by this gene is a subunit of theGABAA receptor.[6]

Variants of this gene may be associated withalcohol dependence.[7]
