Gérard Girouard (born 27 March 1933 inSaint-Hyacinthe, Quebec – d. 22 May 2017) was a member of theHouse of Commons of Canada. He was a lawyer and professor of law by career.[1]
The son of Joseph Girouard and Marie Roy, he was educated at the Séminaire de Mont-Laurier and theUniversity of Ottawa, and practised law inMont-Laurier.[2] He was first elected at theLabelle riding in the1963 general election as aSocial Credit party candidate. On 23 April 1964, he left that party and joined theProgressive Conservative party caucus. After completing his term in the26th Canadian Parliament, Girouard was defeated in the1965 federal election at theHull riding byAlexis Caron.[1]
In 1955, he married Shirley Morgan.[2]
He died on 22 May 2017 at St-Hyacinthe Hospital.[1]
