Gérald Cid (born 17 February 1983) is a French former professionalfootballer who played as acentre back. He playedLigue 1 football forBordeaux andNice, spent a seasonon loan atLigue 2 clubIstres, and played briefly for EnglishPremier League clubBolton Wanderers. He represented both Bordeaux and Bolton inEuropean competition.

Early life and career

Gérald Cid[3] was born on 17 February 1983 inTalence, Gironde.[4] He joinedPremier League clubBolton Wanderers fromBordeaux in July 2007, having spent eight years with the French club.[5] He left the club in mid-January 2008 by mutual consent and returned to France, joiningLigue 1 sideNice, on a three-and-a-half-year deal.[6][7]

On 16 July 2010, Cid announced his retirement.[8]
