Gällivare Municipality (Swedish:Gällivare kommun;Northern Sami:Jiellevárri gielda orVáhčira gielda;Meänkieli:Jellivaaran kunta;Finnish:Jällivaaran kunta) is amunicipality inNorrbotten County in northernSweden. Itsseat isGällivare. It is the third largest municipality in Sweden.Gällivare Lapland Airport is the only airport in the region able to accommodate commercialfixed-wing aircraft; as such, it is a popular destination forhikers wishing to visit theSarek andPadjelanta national parks.
