Friedrich Tietjen (1832 inWesterstede,Oldenburg – 1895 inBerlin) was a Germanastronomer.[2]
He was director of theAstronomisches Rechen-Institut (ARI) from 1874 until his death in 1895. TheMinor Planet Center credits him with the discovery of oneminor planet, the 120-kilometer sized asteroid86 Semele.[1]
The main-belt asteroid2158 Tietjen, discovered byKarl Reinmuth atHeidelberg Observatory in 1933, was named in his memory.[2]
