Freya Leach (born 17 November 2002) is anAustralianconservative political commentator and media personality. She is a TV presenter onSky News Australia, where she co-hostsThe Late Debate. Her solo show,Freya Fires Up, was cancelled in September 2025, six weeks after it began. Her views have been described asconservative andright wing.

Early life and education

Freya Leach was born inSydney,Australia, the daughter of Pastor Mark Leach.[2] She graduateddux atSt Andrew's Cathedral School in Sydney.[3] Leach's grandmother survived theHolocaust.[4]

Leach was studying a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws at theUniversity of Sydney, but dropped out to accept a position atSky News Australia.[5] She was a Policy Development Officer at theSydney University Liberal Club and theNSW Young Liberals.[6]

In 2022, she was the subject of national media coverage after complaining toUSYD Law School about an assignment involving a right-wing fictional character by the name of 'Freya' that kills a left-wing victim in a hit-and-run, has unprotected sex despite beingHIV-positive and is thrown out of a window. Leach alleged that the professor who set the assignment was targeting her because of her political views, while the university claimed the identical names and political beliefs were a coincidence.[7] USYD later removed the exam after continued criticism.[7]

Leach was theNew South Wales Liberal Party's candidate for the seat ofBalmain in the2023 New South Wales state election, losing toKobi Shetty.[6][8]

TheMenzies Research Centre, acentre-right public policythink tank aligned with theLiberal Party, named Leach the Director of the Centre for Youth Policy in 2023.[9]

Media career

Leach dropped out of theUniversity of Sydney and accepted a position as an on-air host atSky News Australia in July 2025, appearing onThe Late Debate nightly.[5][10]

Her own nightly show,Freya Fires Up, was announced in August 2025, featuring guests with differing political views in adebate setting.[11] It was cancelled bySky six weeks later after an interview with anIslamophobic guest was aired.[12][11] Leach will remain a host onThe Late Debate.[12]
