TheFree America Walkout was a demonstration held on January 20, 2026. It was organized by Women's March,[1] with support from other organizations such as50501 and FEMINIST.[2] Approximately 450 activities were planned in all 50U.S. states, as well as in Canada, France, Italy, and the Netherlands.[3]

Participants were encouraged to wear red, white, and blue.[4]American University sociologistDana R. Fisher planned to collect and assess data on participation.[5]

California

Activities were planned in the following cities inCalifornia:

InCentral Coast, students held protests at Aptos, Hollister, and Salinas High Schools.[37] There were dozens of rallies inSouthern California.[38] TheChico event is supported by the Defenders of Democracy Coalition, Re-Sisters, and local chapters ofIndivisible and Women's March.[39] Hundreds of people gathered indowntown Los Angeles[40][41] and in Pasadena.[42] Multiple demonstrations were planned in theSan Francisco Bay Area,[43] including in Oakland and San Jose.[44] Hundreds participated in San Francisco.[45] Protests were also planned inNapa,Santa Rosa,[46] andSouth Lake Tahoe.[47] Hundreds gathered in front of theSan Diego County Administrative Building.[48][49][50]

Colorado

Colorado saw protests inBoulder,Denver, andLouisville.[51]

Connecticut

InConnecticut, activities were planned inBridgeport,Canton,Granby,Hartford,New Milford,Newtown,West Hartford, andWindsor.[52] Hundreds of people participated.[53][54]

Florida

InFlorida, activities were planned in 28 cities,[55][56][57][58] includingPalm Coast.[59] Approximately two dozen protesters gathered outside of Rep.Carlos A. Giménez's office in Miami-Dade County.[60] Two rallies were planned inThe Villages.[61] About 100 people rallied outsideTampa City Hall. More protests were held inLakeland,St. Petersburg,Gulfport andZephyrhills.[62]

Georgia

InGeorgia, students at twelve high schools and colleges, includingEmory University[63] andKennesaw State University, plan to participate.[64][65]

Iowa

Iowa saw protests inCedar Rapids,Des Moines,Grinnell,Iowa City, andSioux City.[66]

Massachusetts

InMassachusetts, activities were planned inCanton,Marshfield,Plymouth,Quincy,Rockland, andWeymouth.[67]

New York

Multiple events were planned inNew York City.[68] Protesters gathered inBinghamton.[69]

Ohio

InOhio, activities were planned inAkron,Bowling Green,[70]Columbus,[71]Dayton,[72] andFremont.[73]

Oregon

Multiple events are planned inOregon. InPortland, activities are being held atCouch Park innorthwest Portland,[74] atLewis & Clark College, atThe Fields Park in thePearl District, insoutheast Portland, and insouthwest Portland.[75] Protesters marched from Couch Park to theKGW studios "to show support for local journalism".[76] Elsewhere in thePortland metropolitan area, events are planned inBeaverton andSherwood/Tigard.[75]

Elsewhere in Oregon, events were planned inAlbany,Bend,Roseburg, andSt. Helens.[75] Hundreds participated inEugene.[77][78]

Texas

Four events were planned inEl Paso.[79][80][81] An event was held inHouston.[24][82][83]

TheSan Antonio event was organized by local chapters of Indivisible and the Party for Socialism and Liberation.[84] Protesters gathered outside City Hall.[85]

Virginia

InVirginia, activities were planned inClifton Forge,Culpeper,Floyd,Richmond, andWilliamsburg.[86]

Washington

InSeattle, protesters planned to march fromSeattle Central College toPier 58 viaBroadway.[87][88] Approximately 200 people gathered inBellingham.[89][90] There was also a demonstration inOlympia.[91] InSouthwest Washington, multiple events were planned inVancouver.[75]
