Fred Joerger (1913–2005) was one ofDisneyland's original model makers, or "imagineers". He was recruited fromWarner Bros byWalt Disney himself in 1953,[1][2] and created models for most of Disneyland's original attractions,[3] including the steamboatMark Twain,Main Street, theMatterhorn[4] and theSleeping Beauty Castle.[5]
Joerger was born inIllinois in 1913. He graduated from theUniversity of Illinois at Chicago with a fine arts degree in 1937. He was named aDisney Legend in 2001. He died in 2005.[3]
