Franziska Christina Brigitte Hoppermann (néeBartels, born 8 January 1982) is a German civil servant and politician of theChristian Democratic Union (CDU) who has been serving as a member of theBundestag since the2021 elections, representing theHamburg-Wandsbek district.[1][2]
Ahead of the2020 state elections, CDU candidateMarcus Weinberg included Hoppermann in hisshadow cabinet for the party's campaign to unseatFirst Mayor of HamburgPeter Tschentscher.[3][4]
Hoppermann became a member of the German Bundestag in the2021 national elections, representing theHamburg-Wandsbek district. In parliament, she has since been serving on the Committee on Digital Affairs and the Budget Committee's Subcommittee on European Affairs.[5]
Ahead of the Christian Democrats' leadership election in 2022, Hoppermann publicly endorsedNorbert Röttgen to succeedArmin Laschet as the party's chair and joined his campaign team.[6]
In the negotiations to form aGrand Coalition under the leadership ofFriedrich Merz's Christian Democrats (CDU together with the BavarianCSU) and theSocial Democrats (SPD) following the2025 German elections, Hoppermann was part of the CDU/CSU delegation in the working group on government reform and cuttingred tape, chaired byPhilipp Amthor,Daniela Ludwig andSonja Eichwede.[7]
Hoppermann is married and has a son. Her grandfatherCarl Damm sat in theHamburg Parliament and was also aMember of the Bundestag.[8]
